Guided exercise used by students working in pairs typically in a computer equipped classroom. Each student completes an exercise which is reviewed by an instructor. Students retain exercises. During the hour session students are expected to complete the first two pages. Many solve the organic "chemystery" of journal citations on the third page by using a library catalog, CASSI Search Tool, or a Web search engine, for example Google.
This worksheet serves as a hands on introduction to University of Rochester River Campus Libraries course page for fall 2009 Organic Chemistry course (chm 173) for freshman. They use the free SDBS and Organic Compounds databases linked from the chm 173 course page http://www.library.rochester.edu/Subject/Chemistry/Courses (only active in the fall) to answer some simple questions. They learn about Hill order.
