This undergraduate level research guide includes research methods plus lists to commonly used databases and reference materials. It also includes information to help students locate books and journals. Site-licensed software, useful web sites, and links to key lab safety resources are also included. The goal of this guide is to provide foundational support to the broad array of chemical engineering course assignments and to help foster information literacy skills.

This guide contains a list of resources on written, visual, and oral communication as well as a information about selected style guides and reference managers. The written communication section includes subtopics of the flow of chemical information, laboratory notebooks, and data access and preservation. The visual communication section includes brief information about posters. A short list of links are included about ethics and intellectual property.

[Second Edition, 2011] This document identifies the skills and knowledge that chemistry undergraduates should have by the completion of a bachelors degree in chemistry and lists specific resources we recommend. The document is divided into 4 sections: 1) Big Picture: the Library and Scientific and Chemical Literature; 2) Properties, Spectra, Safety Information; 3) Chemical Literature; and 4) Scientific Communication.

A guide to resources for finding book reviews for chemistry and other science titles. While geared for use by librarians, this guide may also be helpful for students who are seeking reviews of scientific and technical books. This guide was originally prepared as a column for the ACS Livewire librarian newsletter circa 2006. Links were checked in March 2011, and all were valid except E-STREAMS which no longer appears to be available on the web.

This brief guide was created to assist students writing undergraduate theses in the area of environmental studies in getting starting their library research. Because topics covered a broad range of areas from environmental policy to land use rights to economics of alternative energy resources to pollution monitoring techniques and more, there are a variety of resources suggested.
